On Tuesday, May 20th, Lt. Governor Austin Davis and Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Acting Secretary Jessica Shirley visited the Mon Valley to announce a $250,000 investment through the PA SITES Program. This funding will support efforts to assess the feasibility and identify the best use for a property impacted by historic coal mining activities. Moody Business Development Manager, Jim Lyle, who serves as the Board Chair for the Washington County Tourism and Promotion Agency, was able to join the press conference to celebrate the great news for the area and the Mon Valley Alliance.

Jamie Colecchi, CEO of the Mon Valley Alliance, stated, “This achievement is the result of strong partnerships at every level, from our local townships and county officials to our state leaders, as well as our private partners. The Mon Valley has a proud history of hard work and industrial innovation, and through these partnerships, we are transforming that legacy into a new era of opportunity.”

Moody would like to thank the local elected officials from Carroll Township, Fallowfield Township and Nottingham Township, the Washington County Board of Commissioners Nick Sherman, Larry Maggi, Electra Janis, M.A., PA Senator Camera Bartolotta and PA State Rep. Timothy O’Neal for continuing to push important projects to Washington County and southwestern Pennsylvania.
